Self Esteem refers to a person’s sense of their value and worth, or the extent to which a person values, approves of, appreciates, prizes or likes themselves.  (Blascovich & Tomaka, 1991). It is a common phrase and concept that is of great importance to our overall health and can be considered a key component of one’s mental and emotional state.

A high self-esteem is usually associated with people who are confident, competent and have more fulfilling life experiences whereas low self-esteem can be associated with depression, anxiety, social withdrawal, eating disorders, self-neglect and self-hate.

Fortunately, attributes of a healthy self-esteem can not only be built, but it can be preserved and enhanced. Our self-esteem program is designed to provide a safe place for participants to not only explore their view of self but to learn about triggers and threats to self-esteem and to identify and celebrate their authentic, unique, capable and strong selves.

Using resources that vary from workbooks to hula hoops, obstacle courses and craft activities, this dynamic two-week program combines talk therapy with play and creativity to allow young people an opportunity to learn skills that are clinically proven to enhance resilience.

This program is designed for boys and girls, ages 8 to 11 years old.
